Parata Systems, a provider of automated dispensing solutions for prescription fulfillment, has acquired the assets of a California firm and will be adding jobs at hits Triangle area operations as a result.
Parata has bought automated product machine technology for self-service kiosks from Amistar and Distributed Networks Corporation. Specifics of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The Durham-based company said the deal would enable it to speed up its growth. A year ago, parata acquired the automated prescription systems business group of McKesson Corporation.
The newly purchased technology enables customers to pick up prescriptions even if the pharmacy is closed.
Parata told The News & Observer the deal would lead to creation of some 20 jobs in the Triangle.
