SAN JOSE, Calif. – Networking giant Cisco Systems has agreed to acquire SpansLogic, a developer of network processors.

SpansLogic, which is privately held, is based in Mountain View, Calif. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Cisco plans to imbed SpansLogic processors in its network switching platform with the goal of improving efficiency.

SpansLogic has 14 employees. It was founded in 2004.
