Duke University will host a nanotechnology conference to discuss the impact of the emerging industry on North Carolina’s economy.

The event is set for March 29-30. It will be held at the Social Science Research Institute. Duke’s Center for Globalization, Governance & Competitiveness is putting on the event.

“Nanotechnology is potentially as significant as biotechnology was 20 years ago, and information technology a decade before that,” said Gary Gereffi, a Duke professor of sociology and director of CGGC. “It is a platform for innovation that could revolutionize many other industries.

Topics for discussion include innovation, commercialization and opportunities.
