NORCROSS, Ga. – MindIQ, a 21-year-old venture focused on e-learning and other training technology, could be going public.
Morris Business Development Company, which is based in Newport Beach, Calif., said Wednesday that it had invested in MindIQ and added that it planned to help take MindIQ through a stock offering.
The amount of the investment was not disclosed.
"The arrangements for acquiring a minority interest in MindIQ Corporation involve providing extensive consulting help from Morris and Associates,” said George Morris of Morris and Associates, in a statement. “Morris and Associates is a firm with years of multimedia training creation and sales experience for both business and government organizations. Morris is adding significant resources to the MindIQ Corporation to help them achieve their potential in the training market.
Morris added that MindIQ “will be preparing audits and registration filings for the SEC with help from Morris to ‘go public’ and grow through continued strategic acquisitions of other profitable private companies."
MindIQ, which was launched in 1986, designs and delivers solutions for instructor-led and technology-based training.
The company will open an office in Newport Beach as part of the investment deal, the companies said.
"There is no competitor in the market that has both the flexibility and established presence of our company,” said Louis Bernstein, chief executive officer of MindIQ.
Other deals related to online training will be made, Morris added.
"We plan to acquire additional Internet training business operations that are at or near positive cash flow,” he said. “And, Morris is actively searching for acquisitions and wants to leverage every dollar of our cash to acquire Internet business sites that can produce a profit for MindIQ."
Earlier this week, MindIQ announced a contract with the state of Colorado for a “Design-a-Course” program to train state employees on threats posed by Internet viruses, malware and phishing.
The “Design-a-Course” product offering from MindIQ is designed for use in e-learning and Web-based training.
