LADSON, S.C. – The British Ministry of Defense has ordered an additional 22 high-tech armored vehicles from Force Protection.

The S.C.-based firm was already under contract to deliver 86 vehicles. The increase to 108 of the Cougar Mastiff model patrol vehicles increases the value of the contract to $70.1 million.

Force Protection develops and manufacturers a variety of armored vehicles that are designed to protect occupants from improvised explosive devices, land mines and other explosives.

The U.S. military uses Force Protection vehicles in Iraq and Afghanistan.
