MORRISVILLE, N.C. – etrials has won a contract with what it describes as a “top ten global” pharmaceutical firm to provide services for a clinical trial.

The name of the new client was not disclosed. However, etrials said the project is its third with the firm.

etrials will provide its “eDiary” solution for the Phase III trial, which is related to nerve pain associated with diabetes. Etrials will provide software to run on wireless handheld devices for more than 500 subjects in the trial. More than 80 sites are involved in the U.S. and Canada.

etrials recently chose to standardize its software on the Windows mobile platform.

"Our eDiary provides interfaces that are simple for patients to use and provides results that are easily and quickly accessed by study investigators and sponsors via a web-based portal,” said John Cline, etrials’ chief executive officer.

etrials will also provide help desk support. The trial is scheduled to last seven months.
