FLETCHER, N.C. – Mark Janney, a holder of 15 patents and a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society, has joined Materials Innovation Technologies as its chief scientist.

The company, which also goes by the acronym MIT, is a business development firm focused on commercialization of advanced materials, innovative manufacturing methods, commercialization scale-up engineering, and other services.

Janney worked at one time at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory as well as General Electric. He received a Masters degree and a PhD in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida.

“Mark’s work in new product development is unparalleled,” MIT founder Jim Stike said. “His addition to our organization will further our efforts and help create a culture of invention. His ingenuity in materials processing, characterization and synthesis will help advance our mission to offer truly collaborative and unique solutions to our clients and research partners.”

MIT was launched in 2005.

Fletcher is located in Henderson County near Asheville.
