Qualicaps Group, a supplier of gelatin and non-gelatin capsules for pharmaceutical firms, is acquiring a Canadian firm.
Qualicaps, which is based in Greensboro and is owned by The Carlyle Group, said Wednesday it is buying Pharmaphil. Pharmaphil also makes empty gelatin capsules.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
“The acquisition of Pharmaphil provides Qualicaps additional access to both an experienced management team and work force. Pharmaphil’s high-quality production capability and its relationships with several major customers in the North American pharmaceutical and dietary supplement market segments complement perfectly Qualicaps’ growth strategy,” said Herbert Hugill, chairman and chief executive officer of Qualicaps.
