Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina has sold its healthcare technology company called Companion Technologies to the Thurston Group and ABRY Partners.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Companion Technologies was launched in 1985 and has been a pioneer in development of electronic healthcare transaction services. It has 250 employees with offices in Columbia as well as North Carolina, Mississippi., Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Utah. Healthcare Informatics magazine has consistently recognized Companion Technologies as one of the nation’s top 50 healthcare technology companies.
