smarTVideo, a provider of platforms for delivery of media to mobile devices, wants to change its name to uVuMobile.

The company, which trades over the counter under the symbol SMVD, is seeking shareholder approval. The change is being requested by Dave Ross, who recently took over as chief executive officer of the company.

In the future, the firm hopes to expand its products beyond video subscription models.

“The name smarTVideo reflects the historical identity and image of the company’s past sole focus, which was delivering a direct-to-consumer offering of live TV and video on demand to Smartphones,” Ross said in a statement. “The proposed name of uVuMobile better reflects the corporate brand and new products we envision creating and deploying for the future.”
