Telecommunications provider US LEC is expanding its Ethernet services to Raleigh and five other Southern markets.

Also added to the service area were Charleston, S.C., Birmingham and Mobile, Ala., Chattanooga and Memphis, Tenn., and New Orleans.

Ethernet service enables high-speed network services for multimedia and other applications to be delivered over existing infrastructure rather than fiber. It also allows bandwidth to be controlled in increments that can reduce costs.

US LEC also offers Ethernet service in 17 other cities, including Atlanta, Charlotte and Greensboro.
