Shares in Dell climbed 10 percent on Wednesday after the computer and server manufacturer reported stronger than expected earnings on Tuesday.

Dell’s shares climbed more than $2.60, or 10 percent, to $27.45 in mid-day trading. Dell reported earnings of $677 million, or 30 cents per share, for the third quarter. Analysts had expected a 24-cent per share profit.

Dell operates its largest manufacturing plant in Winston-Salem, N.C.
