ALPHARETTA, Ga. — AirDefense, which focuses on security for wireless local area networks, has closed on $14 million in new venture funding, Private Equity Wire reported on Thursday.

PE Wire cited a regulatory filing. Investors include eHatchery and SYS Ventures.

The funding comes shortly after AirDefense named Michael Potts as its president and chief executive officer. Potts joined AirDefense in September. Potts had been the CEO at Clickfox, an Atlanta-base analytics solutions provider.

On Wednesday, AirDefense said it was opening a new office in Leonberg, Germany. AirDefense already has an office in the United Kingdom.

AirDefense, which was founded in 2001, hired Reiner Hofmann as business development manager and Achim Relitzki as technical sales engineer for the new office.

The company has received three patents for its technology and has another 20 patents pending. AirDefense recently won a court case against a competitor about patent infringement.
