CHARLESTON, S.C. — Siemens Medical Solutions and the Medical University of South Carolina have struck a $40 million deal that will provide the university with cutting-edge equipment and provide Siemens with access to research data.
Siemens Medical will provide a variety of diagnostic equipment for the university’s radiology and cardiology units, including angigraphy, digital radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography.
“With this Seimens agreement we now have the best equipment to go with the best doctors, which makes us unique,” said Michael Gold, M.D., director of MUSC’s Heart and Vascular Center. “This agreement with Siemens’ cutting edge technology further enables our physicians to provide the highest quality of care for the detection and treatment of cardiac disease.”
Siemens Medical will also work with the university on research and development to advance applications for diagnostic imaging as well as streamlining of healthcare workflow processes and incorporation of other emerging technologies.
