MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Revenues for etrials Worldwide, a provider of eClinical software for use in clinical trials, surged in the third quarter, keeping the company in the black for the second straight quarter.

etrials (NASDAQ: ETWC) climbed to $4.4 million in the third quarter, up 40 percent from the same period in 2005 and 7 percent from the second quarter of this year. Its profit reached $391,487, or 3 cents a share. etrials reported a $132,727 loss in the third quarter of 2005 and a $60,000 profit in the second quarter of this year.

The company reported having 32 customers, an increase of eight over 2005.
