Kristina Johnson, dean of the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University, is the newest member of the board of directors at telecommunications gear manufacturer Nortel.

Johnson was named to the board on Tuesday.

Johnson has been part of the Duke faculty since 1999. She also has taught at the University of Colorado. Johnson is a graduate of Stanford University with undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical engineering.

An inventor, Johnson holds 43 patents and has done research work in liquid crystal-on-silicon microdisplays.
