RALEIGH, N.C. — The looks on the faces of these two gentlemen (above) say quite a bit about the excitement and enthusiasm generated at the “Tech 2006” conference on Wednesday.

Chongchang Mao, president of VizorTech, is all smiles as he watches a grinning Sharath Beedu try out the head-mount 3D display prototype the Durham-based company has developed.

“Wow,” Beedu said as he watched a demo of 3D video through the headset.

VizorTech, which is backed by Southeast TechInventures, is developing a means of delivering high-definition quality 3D video through headsets for portable entertainment.

Person after person who tried out the device — which makes the wearer think he or she is sitting in a movie theater — said the same thing as Beedu.

“Wow!”

More than 600 people attended the annual Council for Entrepreneurial event, and 27 companies put their technology on display.

Sensory Analytics of Durham took home the “People’s Choice” award. (See today’s Latest News for a company profile). 6th Sense Analytics took second.

In a new award category, a select group of chief executive officers named Advanced Liquid Logic as the “CEO One To Watch” award winner.

If you like technology and are looking for the “wow” factor, then be sure to attend Tech 2007.
