CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — TimeGate Studios, developer of games such as Axis & Allies, will utilize the Gamebryo game engine from Emergent Game Technologies in a forthcoming massively multiplayer online game.
Gamebryo was developed by NDL of Chapel Hill, which was acquired by Emergent. Emergent maintains an office in Chapel Hill.
Emergent will provide TimeGate with a turnkey solution for development of its new title. Emergent’s Live Game Services will be used to bring the game online and then to manage it.
“We have a long history with Emergent, having used the Gamebryo Element to make both Axis and Allies and our critically acclaimed Kohan series,” said Adel Chaveleh, chief executive officer of TimeGate Studios. “This new project is very ambitious and conceptually innovative and calls for a robust, integrated, turnkey solution – a system that will allow us to make our online transition seamless. We are confident that Emergent’s technology is the best choice to meet that challenge.”
