RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Geomagic, a developer of 3D software applications and services, has received a 2006 Tibbetts Award from the Small Business Technology Council.

The award is named after Roland Tibbetts, who was the driving force behind the creation of the federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program.

Geomagic has received several SBIR grants for its 3D software technology. The firm has received Phase I, II and III grants from the National Science Foundation.

“The SBIR program has funded cutting-edge research at companies with talent but limited resources,” says Ping Fu, chairman and chief executive officer of Geomagic. “Receiving this Tibbetts Award validates and celebrates the talent of our innovative people and the results they have achieved.”
