ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Netriplex Corp. is moving its network operation center to Asheville’s Biltmore Park from Boston this fall, the company said Tuesday.

Netriplex operates six data centers, including Dallas, Atlanta, London, San Francisco and Seattle. The company plans to hire some 12 people for information technology related jobs. Several executives will also relocate to Asheville from Boston, The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Wednesday.

The company cited access to high-speed bandwidth, Asheville’s location away from major cities, and quality of life as key reasons for its move.

“We needed some place that wasn’t on the top 25 cities for terrorist targets,” Jonathan Hoppe, president of the company, told the newspaper. “We have some high profile companies and security has been a concern. Since Sept. 11, we’ve been looking for a location that was more secure. Asheville was perfect for that. Nebraska was No. 1 on our list, but who wants to live in Nebraska?”
