RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Geomagic, a developer of 3-D rendering software and solutions, is launching a subsidiary operation in Shanghai, China.

The subsidiary is an expansion of Geomagic’s business efforts in China, where it has maintained an office and sales presence.

The subsidiary is called Geomagic (Shanghai) Software Co.

“China is an evolving market, especially in the areas of design and testing,” said Jerry Zhou, the deputy general manager for the subsidiary. “We believe Geomagic solutions will contribute to China’s developing economy by offering fast and cost-effective engineering and inspection solutions to a growing customer base.”

The operation will offer sales, training and support. Development and software testing is also performed in China, Geomagic said.

Geomagic, which is based in Research Triangle Park, also has offices in Singapore, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands and Hungary.
