Jess Eberdt, president and chief executive officer of Parata Systems, holds the CED prize for “Growth Company of the Year” at the CED’s 20th annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards banquet in Durham on Wednesday night. Parata, which means to prepare or make ready in Latin, manufactures automated prescription systems. The Durham firm will more than double in size to 500-plus employees when it completes the acquisition of a business unit from Fortune 500 company McKesson Corporation. The deal was announced last month.
