CHARLOTTE, N.C. — US LEC, a provider of telecommunications for businesses across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region, has signed a three-year contract to utilize a number of services from VeriSign.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

US LEC plans to use VeriSign for its signaling service that precedes each call made to ensure a line is open to complete it. VeriSign also will provide US LEC with access to a database of toll-free numbers so that calls are routed through the appropriate provider. Other offerings include enhanced caller identification information and redundant links between each of US LEC’s 26 switches that will ensure signaling ahead of all calls.
