CARY, N.C. — Several high-profile retailers have signed on to use SAS Retail Intelligence Solutions, SAS announced Tuesday at a retail systems show in Chicago.

New customers include Subway, Circuit City, Northern Tool & Equipment and Catalina Marketing.

The retail software application is designed to provide insight into customer behavior, help shape demand forecasting and marketing campaigns and improve management of supply chain costs.

Circuit City is using SAS in part for high-volume forecasting. Subway is utilizing SAS to assess costs and analyze store performance. Northern Tool wants to sharpen its marketing efforts. Catalina Marketing, a global leader in behavior-based marketing solutions, is using SAS to help analyze customer purchase data.

Other SAS retail customers include Brooks Brothers, Burger King, Casino, Casual Male, The Children’s Place, Federated Department Stores, Kohl’s, Li & Fung Retailing Group, The Limited, Lowe’s Companies, Marks & Spencer, Office Depot, Sainsbury’s, Sport Chalet, Staples and 1-800-FLOWERS.COM.

Retail industry sales for SAS rose 20 percent last year, the company said.
