RALEIGH, N.C. — Atos Euronext Market Solutions (AEMS), a global provider of information technology solutions to financial institutions, clearing houses and exchanges, will move its infrastructure to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

AEMS currently uses UNIX on thousands of servers at 790 sites in 29 countries. The company supports futures and options trading as part of its Liffe Connect platform.

“Linux’s open source architecture, combined with the extensive and established levels of support from Red Hat, will allow Liffe Connect to maintain its position as the most sophisticated derivatives trading platform on the market,” said AEMS Chief Executive Officer Jean-Marc Bouhelier. “Our migration to Red Hat Enterprise Linux will significantly improve the price performance of our solutions, thereby allowing our customers to reduce their unit costs.”

Red Hat, a developer of Linux open source solutions and services, said AEMS would increase its network performance by a factor of 10 and reduce costs by a factor of four. AEMS chose to migrate from UNIX after evaluating Red Hat’s product for performance and costs.

Red Hat will also provide its Network Satellite and Network Proxy servers as part of the network.

“Financial technology providers such as AEMS are at the forefront of transforming the global financial markets,” said Werner Knoblich, vice president of Europe, Middle East, and Africa markets for Red Hat. “The UNIX-to-Linux migration, which AEMS is undertaking with its Liffe Connect, platform is a major endorsement of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, clearly showing that we are able to deliver the reliability, high performance and value essential to running such high profile financial operations.”
