Steven Hillenius, a patent-holding physicist, is joining the staff at the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) in RTP as a vice president.
Hillenius will work with the research consortium’s 23 companies, partners and 100 universities from around the world.
According to the SRC, Hillenius has patents covering technology used in most integrated circuits. His worked most recently at Agere Systems and Bell Laboratories.
“Dr. Hillenius is a major-league researcher whom the industry is lucky to have join SRC’s senior management team,” said Larry Sumney, chief executive officer and president of SRC. “His perspectives and accomplishments distinguish him at the top of the field of semiconductor research and that’s the kind of resource that the industry and governments expect from their investments in SRC.”
Hillenius earned a B.S. in physics from the University of Delaware in 1973 and his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Virginia in 1979.
Hillenius replaces Ralph Cavin, who is retiring at the end of this year.
