Cree is rolling out its latest light-emitting diode chip known as the EZR for use in mobile devices requiring a side view.

The chip comes in a rectangular form rather than a square, enabling it to be used in thinner devices, Cree said.

“This is an exciting development for Cree, for our customers, and for the industry. The high performance of this chip should enable our customers to expand their use of white LEDs into applications such as mobile phones and laptop PCs,” said Scott Schwab, Cree’s vice president and general manager for LED chips.
