Movaz Networks, a developer of high-speed optical networks solutions, is forming a joint venture with Olympus Corporation of Japan.
The new venture, which will be based in San Jose CA, will focus on development of micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) for optical equipment suppliers. The joint effort will build on Movaz intellectual property and engineering resources and Olympus’ MEMS foundry services and optical technology.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The partners have already developed a MEMS-based networking switch that has already been deployed at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and as part of the high-speed National Lambda Rail project.
