Geomagic has received its fifth U.S. patent for its 3D rendering software technology.
The latest covers the ability of the software to capture and shape data from physical objects into data for use by computer-assisted design, engineering analysis, custom manufacturing and other processes.
“This patent protects technology that simplifies the digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP) that lies at the core of Geomagic Studio,” said Ping Fu, president and chief executive officer of Geomagic. “There’s a lot that goes into what we call ‘the magic of making it simple,’ but essentially it comes down to innovations that are unique to Geomagic.”
Geomagic has four other patents pending.
