Cingular, seeking to add more music for its wireless content offerings, is launching a series of live concerts.

The Cingular Sounds Live kicked off Thursday in Los Angeles.

Footage from each concert will be offered as part of Cingular’s forthcoming streaming video service to be called Cingular Video.

“Showing video content on wireless devices is not necessarily new anymore, but what makes Cingular Sounds Live so unique is that we aren’t chasing music concerts to get this footage,” said David Garver, executive director of segment marketing and sponsorships for Cingular Wireless. “Instead, we are actually creating these mobile music events for the sole purpose of making the content available for our customers to access and enjoy on their wireless phones.”

The first concert featured Reggaeton artist and Latin Grammy Award winner Daddy Yankee with special guest The Pussycat Dolls.
