The University of North Carolina Health Care System and 2ThumbZ Entertainment are teaming up to offer a variety of health, wellness and fitness applications for users of mobile devices and cell phones.

Offerings include a calorie counter, a personal trainer, and a smoking cessation program. They will be offered on a subscription basis of $9.95 but can be downloaded free of charge through March 31.

“The UNC Health Care System wants to play a significant role in educating individuals as they get in better shape, make smarter and more informed choices and maintain an overall healthy lifestyle,” said Dan Lehman, director of operations at UNC Hospitals. “These applications, made available on devices people have handy at all times, support the positive choices one makes to better his or her health and stay focused on their personal health and wellness goals.”
