EarthLink will announce a package of Voice over Internet Protocol and high-speed Internet access within the next few days, Red Herring reports.

“The move is the most recent example of how the Atlanta-based company is attempting to offset its less-lucrative dial-up unit by concentrating on voice and other services,” Red Herring said.

Meanwhile, The Associated Press reported on Monday that the City of Philadelphia is moving ahead with plans to provide a city-wide wireless Wi-Fi network as deployed by EarthLink.
