FairPoint Communications, an operator of local telephone companies, has acquired Cass County Telephone in a deal worth some $33 million in cash.
Cass County Telephone operates near Kansas City with some 8,600 access lines in Missouri and Kansas. The company also offers digital subscriber line service across 90 percent of its coverage area.
