IBM is No. 1 in the awarding of patents in the United States again.
Big Blue was awarded 2,941 patents last year, the most by one company for the 13th consecutive year. That’s 1,100 patents more than any other company. The United States Patent and Trademark Office released the totals.
Local employees in RTP produced some 300 patents, according to an IBM spokesperson.
IBM has produced more than 2,000 patents for the eighth consecutive year.
In 2005, IBM received 1,100 more patents than any other company. This is the eighth consecutive year IBM has received more than 2,000 U.S. patents.
