Sprint, Cable Partners Name Exec To Lead Joint Venture

OVERLAND PARK,John Garcia, a veteran executive at Sprint, will serve as president of the joint venture being launched by Sprint Nextel and three cable TV firms.

The four companies are partnering to deliver what they call a “quadruple play” of video, voice, Internet and wireless services. Working with Sprint Nextel are: Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Advance/Newhouse Communications.

Garcia’s most recent position was as senior vice president of strategic partners for Sprint Consumer Solutions. He joined Sprint in 1995.
