Misys Healthcare Systems is expanding its headquarters in Raleigh by 30 percent, company officials announced Thursday morning.

Misys, which provides healthcare information technology solutions, will be the lead tenant in the new 130,000 square foot Forum V building to be constructed at the Forum complex on Six Forks Road in North Raleigh. Groundbreaking is set for February.

Misys already occupies the Forum IV building.

The additional space will push the occupied total to more than 240,000 square feet — a 30 percent increase.

The company is also hiring, although there is not a specific increase in headcount associated with the new space, said Misys spokesperson Mike Truell.

“There is growth in all our business units,” Truell added. “Right now we have 75 to 80 open jobs. We are in hiring mode.

“We’ve been growing for the past several years, so at the rate we are growing we know we are going to have to add space.”

A Misys executive said the firm wants to “manage” its growth.

“With 840 employees in Forum IV now, we knew we needed to plan for
additional space to accommodate our projected growth over the coming years,” said Charles Lambert, chief financial officer for Misys Healthcare Systems, in a statement. “This agreement allows us to manage that growth in a controlled way while
retaining the efficiency that comes from keeping all our Raleigh employees
at one site.”

To accommodate the need for space now, Lambert said Misys employees would occupy 20,000 square feet in another building.

“It’s not cramped,” Truell said of the company’s existing space, “but we want to make sure our large groups can work together.”

Misys Healthcare is also expanding its facilities in Tucson, AZ. It has 2,700 employees all together.

The healthcare group is part of Misys plc, which is based in Great Britain.

Misys has more than 92,000 physicians in 18,000 practices, some 1,250 hospitals and 600 home care providers as customers.
