The North Carolina Biotechnology Center is bringing on two economic development executives to lead its new regional offices in Greenville and Wilmington.

John Chaffee, 53, who has more than 25 years of experience in economic development, will run the Eastern Office in Greenville, He has worked for planning and development commissions in Sampson, Henderson-Vance and Pitt counties since 1977. He earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in economic geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Randall Johnson, 34, will run the Southeastern office in Wilmington. An MBA graduate of Wake Forest, he most recently worked for the city of Wilmington’s Economic Development Division.

The Biotech Center operates four regional offices, including Winston-Salem and Asheville. A fifth will open in Charlotte in 2006.
