Xiao Xiao, a scientific founder of Asklepios BioPharmaceutical (AskBio), has been cited by Discover Magazine for his research in the magazine’s “2005 Year in Scince” issue.

Dr. Xiao was cited for research involving the ferrying of genes through the bloodstream, across blood vessel walls and “into almost every muscle cell of hamsters bread to have human genetic diseases,” AskBio said in a statement.

The article in Discover said Xiao’s work “holds the greatest potential for treating diseases like muscular dystrophy.”

Muscular dystrophy is one of the diseases being targeted by AskBio researchers.

Xiao is a professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
