WAKE FOREST,Sprint Nextel has agreed to acquire affiliate Alamosa Holdings in a deal worth $4.3 billion.
Alamosa is based in Lubbock, TX. The deal adds 1.48 million wireless users to Sprint Nextel, which has bought out a number of former Sprint and Nextel affiliates since the companies merged earlier this year.
Alamosa provides coverage area across 19 states, reaching a potential 20 million customers.
One of Sprint’s largest local wireline telecom operation is based in Wake Forest.
