Virgin Mobile USA has selected applications from Motricity to power its “Players Club”. A mobile gaming community.
Some 3 million Virgin Mobile subscribers will have access to the club through Motricity’s communities software. Motricity is a developer of mobile content and applications.
“Players Club allows Virgin Mobile USA to extend mobile gaming into a connected mobile experience for existing and new subscribers. This brings to Virgin Mobile USA’s predominantly young subscriber base more of what they want – access to the best mobile games functionality and connectivity to other players,” said Ryan Wuerch, chairman and chief executive officer of Motricity. “We expect mobile gaming to reach $1 billion by 2009, presenting a significant opportunity for Virgin Mobile USA and other wireless carriers to gain new revenue and, most importantly, ensure the satisfaction of subscribers who are increasingly adopting data services.”
