The states of Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee are each receiving $100,000 e-learning grants from the BellSouth Foundation for efforts to improve high schools.
The awards are being linked to a National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) to aid state high school improvement efforts.
Georgia’s e-learning grant will be used to give more students access to advanced placement and college prep courses with an emphasis on districts that have low income and high minority populations.
In North Carolina, the grant will be used to assist low-income and minority students to get online for honors programs and advanced placement courses.
