Wilmington, NC-based Port City Java reports a 16.12 percent increase in its comparative corporate cafes sales in October 2005 versus October 2004 securing a steadfast 10-month trend. The company has experienced same corporate sales increases every month in 2005 over 2004.

Same unit sales growth is the key indicator for market penetration and performance for the coffee retailer. COO Don Reynolds said, “We are very pleased with our corporate operations and continually develop new programs and products to capture additional market share.”

Port City Java(R) views same store sales comparisons as a crucial measurement for guest acceptance and brand penetration. Port City Java management credits its Fairganics Program as a significant contributor in its top line growth and market penetration.

The company’s Fairganics Program is comprised of USDA Certified Organic Coffees and Fair Trade Coffees.

Port City Java opened its first cafe in March 1995, in Wilmington, NC. The company began Roasting in October 1995 and franchising in September 2003. Port City Java has created a specific identity by creating an “all day approach” to sales, through its cafe environment. A new breakfast sandwich program was rolled out last July. The franchise also has a location on Fayetteville Street Mall in downtown Raleigh.
