CHARLESTON, S.C. — Marc Chardon, a former executive at Microsoft, is the new president and chief executive officer at software developer Blackbaud.

Blackbaud (Nasdaq: BLKB) develops applications and services for use by nonprofit organizations.

Chardon had served as chief financial officer of Microsoft’s Information Worker Business group since 2003. He joined Microsoft in 1998.

Chardon replaces Robert Sywolski as of Nov. 28. Sywolski is retiring. He has been president and CEO since March 2000.
