Comments ranging from “I was born way to early” and “Where was this kind of complex when I was young” were quite common on Thursday night as guests at the first Local Tech Wire Social toured the latest high-tech laden luxury living complex in the Triangle.
The Lofts at Lakeview, a new luxury complex built near the heart of Duke University’s campus and medical center, played host to the first LTW Social. And many of the guests were impressed by amenities ranging from a PlayStation game room to open-access high-end PCs in work areas, the swimming pool surrounded by a courtyard, and a 35-seat, stadium style, capacity movie theater.
“I was born way to early,” lamented Mary Milano, one of three real estate executives from Fonville Morisey, who came to check out the Lofts at Lakevview’s offerings.
Added Darrel Gardner, also from Fonville Morisey: “One of the things I liked is that when we toured the two-bedroom apartment and looked out on the courtyard, we couldn’t tell we were in Durham — or where we were. It was also extremely quiet.”
The Lofts at Lakeview offers 32 different floor plans ranging in size from 685 to 1,672 square feet. It features 11-foot ceilings on ground floor units and 10-fott ceilings on its other three levels.
As photos from the event (see links below) show, other executives impressed with the Lofts at Lakeview were Vivek Wadhwa, former chief executive officer of Relativity who now is an executive in residence at Duke; Linda Daniels of Daniels, Daniels & Verdonik; Craig Chapman, a member of Lightwave Consulting; and Kevin Szogas, vice president of business development at 21CD. Also on hand was Kristine Sullivan, a consultant on leadership development, who will be leading a new leadership program for scientists and engineers under the auspices of Duke starting in January.
The Social is a new networking event presented by LTW. Its partners for the first event were 919 Marketing and the Lofts at Lakeview.
The Social is designed to augment The TechExec, another series of networking gatherings put on in the Triangle along with partner ClearImage and in Charlotte.
