The Charlotte-Gastonia-Rock Hill metroplex ranks second among large cities as “hot spots” for entrepreneurs, according to a new report.
Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill ranks third and Atlanta stands seventh.
The list was compiled by Entrepreneur.com, citing such factors as young companies and rapid growth.
Charlotte ranked third in young companies and second in growth. RDU finished second and third respectively. Atlanta ranked sixth and 12th in the same categories.
Phoenix was the overall winner, ranking first in both categories.
In mid-sized markets, Charleston and North Charleston SC ranked fourth. The Greenville-Spartanburg-Anderson region came in ninth.
Among states, North Carolina finished sixth, Georgia eighth and South Carolina ninth. Arizona was the No. 1 state followed by New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia and Alabama.
Among counties, Fulton County in Georgia finished third, standing second in young companies and fourth in growth.
