RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK — I keep a Will Rogers saying taped to my desk to remind me each and every day that business never stops.
“Even if you’re on the right track,” Rogers once said, “you’ll get run over if you just sit there.”
So what does this have to do with Local Tech Wire?
Rogers’ warning to keep moving forward ties in with the latest endeavor being launched by LTW — the LTW Social.
We kick off this new networking event on Oct. 27 at the Lofts at Lakeview in Durham, and LTW readers are invited to RSVP.
Networking events are not new for LTW, given that we have partnered with Dave Murray and ClearImage in Raleigh and several foundation sponsors such as Peak 10, Grant Thornton, SAS, Kennedy Covington and others in putting on TechExecs. But those events have been, as the name implies, directed at c-level executives of the technology community. And we’re quite proud of the following these events have already developed.
We are seeking to add more value to our readers by offering more chances to network with a wider audience that retains an interest in all things tech.
The idea behind The Social is to put on a series of events where people outside the “tech community” are invited to meet, greet and discuss business — or to look for a new place to live, such as the Lofts at Lakeview, or perhaps to dine, or to have an evening of entertainment.
LTW is quite pleased to be working with Lofts at Lakeview, which is creating what it calls a “resort-style” lifestyle. As we have explained in earlier press releases about the event, technology is a key component in this new development.
Also working with us on the initial Social is 919 Marketing, run by David Chapman.
While the technology community remains the focus of LTW, we also understand that IT professionals work at a wide variety of companies, not simply IT providers. Additionally, there are companies who believe they have homes, residences, products and services that appeal to LTW readers.
The Socials are our attempt to bring people together across all business boundaries — with technology and life science serving as the backbone.
I hope you will choose to join us at The LTW Social on Oct. 27 at 5 PM. To RSVP, go to: localtechwire.com/ltwsocial/
