DonorsChoose, the parent organization of DonorsChooseNC, has won a grant worth $790,000 from Amazon.com as part of a fundraising competition.
DonorsChoose raised $790,000 during the event, at least $50,000 of that coming from a DonorsChooseNC fundraiser recently in Durham, according to The New York Times.
DonorsChooseNC is the largest subsidiary group working with the New York-based organization.
Amazon.com will match the $790,000.
The money will be used to help provide materials and supplies for schools in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas that were hit by recent hurricanes.
