In the court battle over claims and counterclaims about Unix and Linux, IBM has dropped several of its patent counterclaims against SCO. IBM noted that it is not economically worthwhile to pursue its claims, NewsFactor reports.

However, IBM continues to believe that SCO infringed on its patents, the company said. Withdrawal of the counterclaims was done not as an indication of guilt but as a way to “simplify and focus the issues in the case, and to expedite their resolution,” IBM stated in court documents.
