Najmi Jarwala, a former executive with AT&T Wireless, is the new president of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications for North America.

Jarwala served most recently as senior vice president for customer equipment and supply chain at AT&T Wireless. He assumes his new position on Oct. 17.

The Sony Ericsson joint venture has a major operation in RTP.

He possesses tremendous operating skills with an intimate working knowledge of a wide range of wireless technology and solutions. His industry experience will be a valuable asset to us in driving the next phase of our growth, and we believe Najmi is an exceptional choice to lead our team in North America.”

Jarwala earned a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and also completed the Wharton Advanced Management Program.
