Epic Games has licensed its Unreal Game Engine to Buena Vista Games for use in three forthcoming titles.

Buena Vista Games is part of The Walt Disney Company.

The first title to use the Unreal engine will be based on the “Turok” character franchise.

“BVG’s intellectual properties, combined with Epic’s leadership in underlying technology, ensures the best game content for consumers,” said Michael Ryder, vice president of worldwide production for Buena Vista Games. “Licensing Unreal Engine 3 is a strategic move to provide cost-effective and timely delivery of new content, allowing our development teams to leverage the enormous capabilities of emerging next-generation systems.”

Epic has used its Unreal engine in the action games Unreal and Unreal tournament. The engine has also been licensed for use in other games such as Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell (TM)” from Ubi Soft; PC Gamer’s 2000 Game of the Year, “Deus Ex” from Ion Storm/Eidos; America’s Army: Special Forces, from the United States Army, and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (PC) from Electronic Arts.
